The Sedona Method is a well known life enhancement technique developed by Hale Dwoskin based on principles he learned from Lester Levinson. It’s named after Sedona in Arizona where the Method was first taught back in 1974.
The Method has now gone on to worldwide success and is today marketed by Sedona Training Associates (STA), a company co-founded by Dwoskin. You can buy the complete Method on audio CD from STA and/or attend their seminars and read Dwoskin’s book.
What Is The Sedona Method?
The core of the Sedona Method is a simple set of questions intended to help you to recognise your emotions and let go of the ones that you don’t want. This is designed to allow you to rid yourself of unhelpful emotional baggage, resolve unwanted feelings and just “be” in the moment.
Just Let Go
The Method is based around the idea of letting go. It’s designed to “uncover your natural ability to let go of any painful or unwanted feeling, belief or thought”.
The Method teaches this process of letting go as a way of freeing yourself from negative thoughts and emotional pain. In this way the Method is designed to allow you to become more at peace, happier, less stressed and generally more successful.
The Sedona Method isn’t for everyone, some people just don’t ‘get it’. However a large number of users have found it extremely effective for them.
Personally I’m one of those who didn’t get it. Although my initial impressions were positive I found it to increasingly reminiscent of some of the Eastern philosopies with which I’ve never been in tune. As a result I didn’t actually finish the course, so I can’t give a complete review.
Putting my personal experience aside, the Method certainly has some interesting ideas and many people have found that it works for them.
